About Us
The CJC stems from the recommendations of the International Climate Justice Conference 2019, which was organized at the University of Mauritius, supported by the Université de la Réunion, the Agence Française de Développement, and the Ministry of Education (Mauritius). The event was a multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder conference which gathered 100+ academics, students, practitioners, policy makers, professionals from the private and public sectors, as well as scientists, and civil society organizations. One of the recommendations was to set up an institution which would be a hub for climate change and climate justice research, policy and law. CJC also works towards empowering vulnerable communities affected by climate change through our Climate Justice Compact Foundation.
